Aidan's preschool put on a Halloween carnival yesterday and each class did a little performance for all the parents. For the most part, it was a big fat FAIL. All the kids were crying because they wanted to be with their parents who were just right there, but yet so far away! Aidan was one of those that was crying. Here's some video of his class's performance. Aidan is the one dressed as Nemo.

Another vaccine injury
Dear God. And here I was just worried about what vax can do to children w/their immature immune systems. That makes me never want to get anymore vax for me or my family ever again. I wonder if she ever had a flu vax before and was fine then? Or if this was a different concoction that triggered this in her? This is so scary.

Our 5th wedding anniversary

Today we've been married 5 years. A lot has happened in 5 years. We spent 2 of it trying to get pregnant, did a lot of traveling and saw some really neat places, got a puppy to make a total of 3 dogs, had a baby, sold our home, moved twice, built a new home, had another baby, put one dog down and now are the parents of one toddler and one pre-schooler and 2 dogs. Not to mention our job changes and respective family drama along the way. We've been just a little bit busy, huh?

Triplets
I dreamt I gave birth to triplets last night. I was at my grandmothers old house, in the back yard, naked in a rocking chair, no meds. Two boys and a girl. One of the boys was very large, over 10lbs and one boy was very small, 4lbs. The girl was around 7lbs. I looked up the meaning to dreaming of triplets and found this: For a young woman to dream that she has triplets, denotes that she will suffer loss and disappointment in love, but will succeed to wealth.

Family photos
Yesterday, we went to our photographer, Robin Winkles, for family photos and our session was great! Aidan cooperated better than we expected, so our photos may reflect that we do in fact have TWO children instead of just one! Here's a sneak preview of our session from yesterday; enjoy! http://www.robinwinklesphotography.com/blog/?p=2197

Addison's first hair cut
Addison got her first hair cut today! We took her to Snip-it's and she was awesome! Didn't complain a bit! (But neither did Aidan, and now he hates getting his hair cut) She didn't need any length taken off, just a little shaping.
After that, we went to Steinmart, where she walked around and proved herself to be my little girl when we had to pull her away from the jewelery counter and the sunglasses! She got lots of compliments today!

Addison 9mos old
Oh my goodness; she is growing up so fast! She is walking, babeling, clapping and drinking out of sippy cups. I can't belive her first birthday is just around the corner! Her personality is emerging and she is so awesome; very laid back, go with the flow type of girl (like myself), loves to laugh and squeal (very loudly), likes to play rough and be thrown around (in a safe manner of course) and I have a feeling she will be a little prankster. Just love her!

We have another walker!
Addison took her first real steps today! She's been working towards it for a while now. And yes, she's only 8 months old! So glad I was at home with her to see it. I had a friend (Lisa) over for lunch and she let go of the toy bus she was holding on to and walked 2-3 steps over to Lisa! Since then, she's been doing it over and over. Letting go of stuff and taking a few steps on her own. Now I'm really in trouble!

A fun 4th of July
This year we drove to DFW to spend the holiday at my mom's house. It was the first road trip with our kids and they did great! Aidan loved being at Gigi's house and never wanted to leave. We spent a lot of time in the pool and watched the fireworks. I think Aidan was in shock watching the fireworks and I had forgotten how loud they are! But both kids did wonderful, although it was a little scary for them. Aidan keeps talking about them and wants to watch them every night now. Aidan also helped Gigi make Rice Crispy Treats and he had a good time making them and eating them! Addison is still doing a great job trying to keep up with Aidan. She prefers standing and pulls up all the time. She even let go and was standing all by herself for a little while! She will be walking in no time.
Today, Aidan is home sick from school. He has a fever and Addison is very congested w/a very runny nose and she hates getting her nose wiped and suctioned. She's on an antibiotic and a antihistimine/decongestant. I'm hoping both are feeling better soon. Being sick is no fun.
However, I took some video (3min) of them today playing in the house and they don't look sick, but they are having fun with each other. I'm also posting some pics from Gigi's house over the holiday. Enjoy!

Fav pics of my kids

These are my two favorite pics of my kiddos! Love their faces!! Muah! And love our photographer Robin Winkles; she is so good and her prices are very reasonable. If you live in the ATX area, I strongly recommend her! Here's a link to her site/blog... http://www.robinwinklesphotography.com/

Notes from school
Every day, I get a written report on everything Aidan did at school, ie what he ate, every diaper change and all the things they did that day, along w/a special message at the bottom. I thought I'd share two that made me laugh out loud at my silly little boy...
"Aidan put on our Thomas the Train costume, grabbed a purse and gave his friends a kiss on the cheek saying "bye bye" this afternoon. It was precious!"
"Aidan helped two friends resolve a conflict by telling one to "walk away" and then brought them a different toy to play with. It was so cute"

Where is my village?
You know the old saying, "it takes a village"? Well, I want my village and I want it now! Why on earth did we think it was such a good idea to get away from everyone; our family and friends and isolate ourselves so that the brunt of all every day tasks, including raising our children was solely on one person; us? I don't know about you, but my husband works late evenings and every weekend; which gives me the lion's share of responsibility of childcare day after day after day. Please don't get me wrong; I love my children more than life, but some thing's gotta give.
Two hundred; even one hundred years ago, it was normal for families to have a cook, a maid, a nanny, a yard boy, a stable lad, etc. You get the idea; many hands make light work. But now, that kind of help is only available to the uber-rich unless you live in a commune, or you have sister-wives. I'm not saying that I don't want to be involved in my children's lives every day; I do, very much. But I'd also like to have time for a shower each day for myself; for the last two and a half years, I'm lucky to have a shower every three days. I'd also like time to go to the gym and work off this baby weight (and then some) and maybe occasionally meet a girlfriend for lunch sans kids and have an enjoyable, adult conversation for an hour.
Prior to having our children, my husband and I enjoyed doing things together and apart. We are both independent souls and enjoy our freedom, and had an even balance of being away from each other and then coming together again each day. We enjoyed sharing our lives with each other without the need to be joined at the hip. But in my time of being a stay at home mom (SAHM) it feels like I'm stuck on "lather, rinse, repeat" or Groundhog Day, as I've described to my husband before. Every day is pretty much the same, with little or no adult contact for myself (unless you count The View and Oprah). My mom uniform is yoga capri pants w/tee shirt and flip flops. It makes no sense to wear anything nice since I just get spit up on several times a day, sneezed on and various other bodily fluid wiped on me. My clothes are just extensions of dish towels and kleenex. Being a SAHM is a full time job and then some all by itself, but then add to that general housework, laundry, bill paying, meals/dinner, grocery shopping, doctor appointments, etc, it's a wonder I ever have time to keep in touch w/friends via text or email, much less a phone call! (If you are talking to me on the phone, you should feel VERY special) [And if I'm out with you in person without my kids; then that is due to an act of congress and you should never doubt my love for you]
I guess I am just lacking a balance that I used to have and wishing there were other options our ancestors had. I also feel that I cannot possibly be the only one feeling this way either, right? So if you can in anyway relate to this at all, please leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you, even if it's just one line. I know if you are a mom like me, time is in short supply and you are probably wondering where your village is too.

Addison's Baptism
We had little Addison baptised at St Thomas More. She was so beautiful in her trend setting gown and cute little hair decor with her earrings and her bracelet. I saw this dress and just couldn't resist it for her! She did really well for the hour long process; shreiking and fussing every now and then.
In other news, Addison is talking. She has 3 words; hi, dada and mama. We've had witnesses now to her talking. At first we thought we were just hearing things because she's so young to be talking, but she is! She really lights up around Aidan and talks more; she thinks he's pretty cool. :)

She's crawling!
Oh my gosh, I haven't posted in ages it seems. Life with these two keeps me so busy I never have time for anything that isn't vital. Ray is bathing Aidan and Addison is sleeping, so I have some time to update you all real quick. I've got a few pictures of the kiddos from the past week or so that I'll include in this post. Addison is growing so fast. She's 6mos old and weighs about 20lbs (Aidan weighed that at 1yr). She's got 2 teeth and is crawling all over the place. She's very curious about all of Aidan's toys, which agrivates Aidan and he displays this by grabing whatever object Addison has away from her and saying "NO Addison, MINE!". We are trying to work through this with him (I know this is normal behavior, but it's still an issue non the less). Sometimes he's really sweet and will give her something else to play with, which is wonderful! And we praise him when he does this for her.
It's already wickedly hot outside; 90's and it's only June. Ugh. I wish it was just warm instead of hot.
I'm enjoying a small glass of wine right now as my well earned night cap for the evening. Aidan will be going to bed soon and then we can retire for the day as well; falling into bed exhausted once more. (side note: I've started reading the Outlander series and it's a riviting love story with plenty of adventure and danger; a real page turner. Read it if you haven't yet!) Here's pics of the kids...

I see 2 teeth!
Oh, Addison is hitting all her milestones so fast! This morning I saw the tops of her two bottom teeth poking through her gums; she's been working on them for a few weeks now. Thank goodness for Motrin! And she's been rocking on her hands and knees and ooching her way around the living room on the floor; crawling is right around the corner! Here we go again with the gates and baby proofing! Hard to believe she's 6mos old already.
For Mother's Day, we went to Bull Creek with the kids and let Aidan play in the water. He wasn't too sure about getting his shoes wet, but eventually decided it was ok. Lots of dogs and other people there. Here's a few pics of the kiddos...

Late St Patrick's Day pics
Addison, 4mos on St Patty's day

Aidan, 2yrs old on St Patty's day

Aidan pushing his car around the back yard.

Time just gets away from me (hmm.. go figure, with 2 kids under 3 and 20mos apart!) The first 3 pics are of the kids on St Patty's day and the last pic is of Aidan at Zilker Park. He LOVES cars, trucks, buses and airplanes. Don't even get me started on animals! He loves anything that says "roar!" He was even "roaring" at eveyone who walked by our table at Kirby Lane the other day; too funny. Anyway, thought I'd post these pics real quick before I forgot again!

Quick update
Addison had her 4mo appt today, here are her stats...
weight 16.05 lbs = 85%
height 26.5 inches = 97% (she's very tall for her age!)
head circumference 42cm = 68%
Since we are following an alternative vaccine schedule (Dr Bob Sears) she only had two vaccines today (one oral and one shot) DTaP and Rotavirus. She didn't even cry when she got the shot!
Aidan loves to go bye-bye in the car. He doesn't care where we go, he just wants to be in the car. Yesterday, he was bugging me to go bye-bye, so when Addison got up from her nap, I put them in the car and drove around for a while trying to decide where to go with them. Remember, Ray works weekends, so it's just me. I finally decided to take them to the park in the neighborhood. It went surprisingly well! I put Addison in a carrier and wore her while I followed Aidan around the playground. Then I spread out a quilt on the grass and Aidan sat next to me and had some snacks while I fed Addison a bottle. It was really nice to sit there w/both of my children, everyone being content (ie no crying/whining) listening to the birds chirping and the cars driving by. I wished we could have all 3 laid there and napped together, but I'll take what I can get! I did feel a little like supermom having both of my kids outside by myself and having it go so well.
Last week, I was in the hospital with kidney stones. More painful than labor, let me tell you. Luckily, they passed on their own and I did not need a procedure to remove them, which they were prepared to do. I follow up w/my Urologist next week and do a test to find out why I got them in the first place.
Addison hit a milestone while I was in the hospital, so I missed it; she rolled over! A few days later, she did it again and I saw it that time. Soon she'll be crawling.
I'll leave you with a few pics of the kiddos....

2 year stats on Aidan
Aidan had his 2yr appt and here are his stats...
Height: 34 3/4 inches = 59%
Weight: 24.69 lbs = 11%
Head circumference: 49 1/2cm = 71%
He's wearing 24mo/2T shirts and 9-18mo on his pants. His waist is really little so 2T pants are HUGE for him. He only had one shot, but he was good about it and settled down quickly. His pedi wasn't worried about anything, does not think he has autism or any delayed speech. We talked about his bedtime issues and updated her on what we finally found that is working for him and us. So, he is good and healthy. He also seems to be throwing less tantrums lately and he's sleeping better now too, so maybe his regression and adjusting to a new baby in the house is coming to a close.... maybe.

Look out world; I'm two!
So our first baby turned two today! He had a great birthday party with lots of friends and a huge moonwalk in the backyard. He had a few meltdowns, but had a lot of fun too. We had the same kids over as last year, for the most part, and it was so neat to see how they all had changed over the last year. Anyway, here's a few pics of his big day...

Addison is 3 months old today!
Today was a busy day with the two kids, while Ray was at work. Aidan wouldn't take a nap and was unusually clingy all day. I tried to keep him happy and entertained until it was time to go to a birthday party for Gavin (April's son, that just turned 1). It was at Little Gym and Aidan was slow to warm up, but quickly loved running around and liked walking on the balance beam (with me holding his hand, of course). But after only about an hour, he was asking to go home. Since I was there with both kids by myself and he was getting whiny, we had to leave early - missing the cake and gifts. I didn't even have time to say goodbye to April! Aidan was tearing the place apart and going into employee only areas, so we had to just get out of there. It's very hard to parent a very quick one year old (almost 2) when you have a 3 month old on your hip too. But Addison was (and has been) a great trooper! She only fusses when she's hungry. The reason for me telling you all of this, is to explain why Addison's shirt is so dirty in this picture! Aidan requires so much attention, that I never got around to changing her shirt for the picture. So, my apologies!
Addison is still smiling a lot, which I will never get tired of. And she is making new sounds with her mouth, blowing raspberries. She prefers sitting up and is so close to rolling over and pulling herself into a sitting position. She's very strong and determined!

Austin Children's Museum
Today, we took the kids to the Austin Children's Museum downtown. My friend Vanessa and her two girls, Scarlett and Gwendolyn met us there. The kids had a great time and Aidan did not want to leave! But we did managage to coax him out with the promise of ducks at our lunch venue, Hula Hut. It's right on the water (Lake Austin) near downtown. He had a great time there too and did really well eating his food by himself.

Aidan and Scarlett (they are 3 days apart)

Aidan loves putting the ball in and watching it roll down and out!

Aidan loved the fish!

Aidan LOVES the train sets; seriously, we could not pull him away!

Tired from a long, fun day!
