Savannah passed away today

She was 13 years old and I will miss her very much. She was a good dog and had been with me for a long time. She went thru a lot with me thru the years. I was 18 when I bought her for $25, a full Chow but no papers. It didn't matter to me, she was a cute little fluffy puppy that looked like a little teddy bear. She was a member of the family and it has been hard these last couple of years watching her fade away. She will be missed dearly.

New home is coming along!

Our new home is getting closer to being completed. We are still expecting it to be done in June or July. They just finished sheet rocking and will begin to texture and paint soon and then cabinets will go in soon after that. We are getting anxious! I can't wait to start decorating it! I'm already selecting paint colors for different rooms and we are getting bids on plantation shutters. I've been looking at Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware catalogs for color inspiration. I'm excited to put Aidan's nursery back together in this new house too. This new home will have all that we need for our little family. I'm also looking forward to having a doggie door for the dogs. Letting them in and out all day while taking care of a baby is getting old. They seem to always want in or out while I'm feeding Aidan.

Speaking of dogs, our oldest, Savannah, is not doing so well. She will be 14 this year and I'm afraid she won't be with us much longer. She is mostly deaf, has dementia, urinary incontinence and has had at least one seizure that I'm aware of. Poor girl, she's had a long life though. She just sits in the corner on her bed all day, and only gets up to eat and go out to go potty. We did get a new vet, closer to our new home, and they have a brand new facility with a special room for us when the time comes. That will be a very hard day.

Onto happier topics, Aidan is still sleeping well at night. He has started to go to bed earlier, around 7-8pm and will sleep until about 7am. He does wake up at least once each night, but we don't pick him up, just give him his pacifier and he goes back to sleep. So we haven't been doing any night time feedings for about 2 weeks now. The pedi said that after 2 months, they don't need night time feedings anymore and the sooner we could break that habit the sooner he'd be sleeping longer and then we'd be getting better sleep too. He's sleeping now (hence my time here on the computer) and Ray is out riding his Harley and having dinner with a friend of his. I think I will be going to bed soon myself. We are going to church for the first time with Aidan tomorrow. I think he'll do well, morning is his best time of day.

Aidan got his shots today :(

Today was Aidan's two month pedi appt. He weighed 12 lbs 7 oz which put him in the 75th percentile for his weight; 24 inches long which put him in the 95th percentile for his height; and his head is 40cm which put him in the 50th percentile. Of course today's appt also meant his first round of vaccines, 4 shots and 1 oral vaccine. The oral went over smoothly, of course, but with the first shot, his eyes got really big and then he screamed and cried and with each shot his pain was renewed. It's hard to watch your child be in pain, but we made it thru and we were able to calm him down in about 5 minutes and then he was fine. We got back in our vehicle and I have taken to riding in the backseat with him and he just stared at me and smiled until he went to sleep. I stared right back at him, smiling as tears fell from my eyes. Tears for my love of him and tears for his pain and tears for what a big boy he is to me. I love this child.

After our pedi appt, we ran two errands and Aidan was SO good the whole day! Maybe it was the shots or the Tylenol, but he pretty much slept thru our errands. He has 4 band aids and one of his injection sites is bruised already.

He is now sleeping for an 8 hour stretch at night. He usually goes down around 9pm and gets up at 5am for a feeding. He goes back to sleep after that, but is up again at 6, 7 and then 8. Ray and I have adjusted our bedtime so now we go to sleep when Aidan goes to sleep at night so we can get 8hrs of sleep too!

We are so happy and content with life.... we are truly blessed.

Bluebonnets!

Today, we took Aidan to St Edwards University to take pictures of him in the bluebonnets. We weren't sure how that would go but he did so good! We took the bumbo seat so he could sit by himself and we got some really great pictures of him! He is 8 weeks old today and is getting cuter by the day! My mom went with us and Lea met us down there with her daughter (Aidan's cousin), Madeleine and her sister Joy. They both did so good and we got some really great pictures of them. We also took Aidan with us to a restaurant for the first time tonight and that also went pretty well. He did get fussy for a period of time, but it helped that it was a loud place so no one noticed. He had a busy day today! We also closed on our old home today, so now we are just waiting for our new home to be finished so we can move in! We've all done a lot today, very tired!

Time is flying

Soon, Aidan will be 2 months old. It's hard to believe it's already gone by so quickly. He's getting bigger and bigger and I finally caught him on camera with a smile to share with you! I love it when he smiles at me and he does it a lot! Love it! He has his 2 month pedi appointment week after next, he'll get his first round of vaccines then. Ouch! Poor baby.

Our new home should be done in the next 3 months. We can't wait for it to be finished. They were putting the shingles on a few days ago and the brick had been delivered. The stone should be delivered soon and sheetrock should start by the end of next week if the electrical inspection goes well. We close on our old home in a few days. We're excited about our new home and I can't wait to get in there and decorate and put everything where it belongs. All our things will be in storage until we move into the new place. By the time we see our things again, they'll seem new!
