We were hit by lightening last night!

We were hit by lightening last night, at my mom's house. (We are still here for a few more days until we close) It hit the garage, blew a hole in the roof and siding and fried the garage door opener. There was roofing paper and wood splinters all over the place. We are all ok though.

My mom just went out to Home Depot on 1431 and noticed that the Spanish Creek is about a foot away from spilling over the road onto 1431. I can't believe the amount of rain we are getting.

We are in homebuyer hell

Ok, maybe just limbo; but it's still not fun. We were supposed to close on June 22, then it got moved to the 26th, now it's the 28th or 29th. They ordered a gas meter for our home and it's still not there yet. Was supposed to be there last Thursday, but still wasn't there today. Can't close w/o a gas meter on the house. Also, our lender ordered the appraisal late and they may not be prepared to close us until Thursday b/c of that - separate issue from the gas meter.

So, meanwhile, we've got so many people scheduled (ie painters, utilities, alarm company, movers, furniture companies, wallpaper (just for Aidan's border) and wainscoting people, etc. that will all have to be rescheduled now, again.

Oh, and our loan lock has expired and rates have gone up almost a whole point since we locked!

I know somehow we'll get in there sometime this week, but we are frustrated b/c we are planners and we've had everything and everyone scheduled perfectly and now our planning is shot and we'll have to rush to get moved in by the weekend. Please send us some "closing dust"!

Aidan's 4 month doctor appointment

Aidan had his 4 month appointment today, even though officially he won't be 4 months old until the 14th. I was excited to see what he weighed, but not looking forward to the 4 shots he would have to get. Here are his current stats...

Head: 42cm
Length: 24 1/2 inches
Weight: 14 pounds 12 ounces

He is in the 50th percentile for everything, so he's right on track. Developmentally, he's exactly where he's supposed to be also. He's found his hands/fingers and puts them in his mouth daily, can lift his head easily when on his tummy, rolling over to his side, but not rolling over yet, and has started showing signs of teething. Aidan is wearing 3-6 mos size clothing and in size 3 Pampers Cruisers. The shots were the hard part today. He screamed at each of them and I cried while Ray held him. It was awful. I hate it that he's in pain and I can't do anything about it. A necessary evil, I guess. On the positive side, since birth, Aidan has not had any health issues; no fevers, not ER visits, no calls to the doctor at all for anything! They said most babies come in for lots of things but attributed his healthiness to genetics, good parenting and not being in daycare.
In other news, our closing date has been pushed back by the builder b/c some critical items for our home are back ordered (ie, double oven, granite counter top for my office, front door, faucets, etc.). So our new closing date is June 26th, but I don't think pushing it back 2 days will be enough. So I'm expecting them to move it back again. So we'll see what happens. We're lucky that our current living situation is flexible in that we don't have to be out by a certain date, but we are anxious to move into our new home. But we want everything to be done right too before we close, so we will wait. To be continued!

Aidan, almost 4 months old now

We should be closing on our new home in about 20 days, we can't wait! I can't wait for Aidan's room to be all ready for him. He's been bunking in w/us since we sold our home and moved into our temporary place that we are renting from my mom. He sleeps in his crib, not in bed w/us, but we are all in the same room.

He is almost rolling over. He makes it to his side, but hasn't completely rolled over yet. Can you believe that in less than two weeks, he'll be 4 months old already!? I'm really interested to see how much he weighs now at his 4 month doctor appt. We haven't been in since he was 2 months old and since then he's changed diaper sizes twice! He's now wearing Pampers Cruisers size 3. He's big for his age. No chub on him, he's just larger than other babies his age.

We finally invested in a very nice camera. The pictures it takes are amazing compared to our little digital one. I wish we had bought it sooner. The picture in this post is from this past Tuesday at a park in Georgetown. It's amazing that one year and two days ago, I got a phone call from my doctor's office with the results of my 23rd blood pregnancy test. Twenty two times, it had been negative; but on June 1, 2006, it was positive. And now our little bean is here with us making our lives richer every day.
