We have a closing date!

June 22 is the magic date, so far. We are both in the business, so we are expecting our closing date to get pushed back at least once, but maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. The countertops were supposed to be in, but are not in yet. Most of all the tile/slate has been installed though. Once the tops go in, then all the plumbing and rest of flooring will go in and it won't take long from there. We are excited! Being able to stay in my mom's second home has been a blessing, but it's small and we miss all our things. All our things have been in storage since early April and we've been living here since early March.

Aidan is doing well! Smiling, cooing/talking and being a baby. He's found his fist, fingers and thumb and thinks they are all pretty fabulous! His next pedi appt won't be until next month, so I don't know his current weight, but he is wearing 3-6mos clothes now, and still in size 2 diapers. He is eating 4 oz at a time every 1-2hrs and is a "happy spitter upper". He spits up large amounts, frequently, but it is not accompanied with any discomfort, so the doctor is not worried about it. It should go away once he moves onto solid foods, which is right around the corner now! He should start solids at 4-6mos. Wow, time really is flying!

Zilker Park mommy GTG

I have some on-line friends from a local chat board and sometimes they organize mommy get togethers (GTG) and Aidan and I have been to two of them now at Zilker Park. Zilker Park has been around for a long time; I used to play there when I was little and it is located in central Austin near downtown. It has a playground, a train for the kiddos to ride called the Zepher (sp?), a pool, trails and lots of greenspace. Here's a pic of Aidan and all the kiddos from yesterday. Aidan is on the far left wearing the brown Ramones onsie. He was 3 months and 3 days old. We were there a few hours and he enjoyed it. He ate, watched the other kids and the train go by, talked and even took a nap under a huge beautiful old oak tree. I'm sure that tree is at least a hundred years old! Next time I'll take a pic of what it looks like under it's enormous canopy. He had a good day, we even went to visit daddy at work afterwards!

Savannah's ashes

I picked up Savannah's ashes today. It was hard. They handed me a dark brown gift bag; it was heavy. I was surprised by the weight of her ashes and it brought the sadness all back again. I cried as I walked away, carrying both Aidan and Savannah back to the car. Once I got home, I looked in the bag and inside was a dark blue velvet bag that held her ashes in a wooden box and an envelope was next to that. Inside was a certificate with this poem...

"Farewell, Master, yet not farewell,
Where I go, ye, too, shall dwell.
I am gone before your face,
A moment's time, a little space.
When ye come where I have stepped
Ye will wonder why ye wept."

Aidan laughed today! 11w1d old

It was awesome! It was just before 7pm tonight and he was sitting on my lap watching Lola and Minne playing with each other. All of a sudden, Lola got all wound up and started zipping thru the house really fast and tossing her toys around. At first, Aidan jumped like he does when he's startled. So I thought a scream/cry was going to be next, but instead he LAUGHED! A belly laugh! And then he did it again, as Lola continued to zip around in front of him. It was so great! He did it a few times and then Lola stopped and laid down to rest. She got all riled up again later but he didn't laugh again, the moment was gone. I wish that I could have recorded it, but I'm sure we'll get more opportunities in the future. I can't wait for Ray to hear it, he was at work when it happened. :( Aidan's laugh, even his smile is the best thing on earth.
