Houston, we have activity!

Just got back home from my 39wk OB appt and I am 1cm dilated and 20% effaced! I know it's not much, but it's a start! I've been having contractions for the last 3 days, and they have been 8-10 min apart for an hour or so at a time, so they seem to have made some things happen. The doctor still thinks Aidan will be born on or near his due date of Feb 8th and is happy with the way things are going. Aidan is estimated to be 7lbs 6oz as of today and has a nice heartbeat and plenty of amniotic fluid. We are now back on track for our weekly appts, so our next (and last) appt is next Tuesday, Feb 6th. The doctor said he wouldn't let me go past 1 week overdue, so Aidan will be here by Feb 15th at the latest. I feel like he'll be here by or before Valentines day. We are getting so excited to see him and hold him. We could see his face on the u/s today and he has chubby cheeks and a small, round chin w/full lips. Can't wait to kiss his sweet face! It won't be long now! If you want to be called or text messaged when Aidan arrives, make sure I have your number!

Back from 38wk OB appt

Well, I finally got in to the doctor's office today! Yay! So now I have an update to give you. First of all, I am not dilated yet but cervix is softening a bit more. So pretty much no change since Jan 9th. Aidan on the other hand, has grown a bit. His estimated weight today was 7lbs 2oz. He is measuring right on target. They hooked me up to a machine today that recorded and printed out his heart beat over a 10 minute period of time and each time he moved during that time, I was told to push a button. I'm not sure what the purpose of that was, but they said it looked good. So all looks to be well with Aidan.

I was and still am tired after that appt. Ray was there and so was my MIL, who is in town for the birth. We went to eat lunch afterwards and now I am back home with my MIL. She is outside with the dogs, enjoying the sunshine. Today is such a pretty day, but I think we have more bad weather headed our way soon. I am going to go take a nap. I am so stinking tired!

Dr appt cxl'd again! ugh!

I'm so aggravated. Dr S's office just called and he has surgery tomorrow so they needed to reschedule me. So now they won't see me until Thursday w/a nurse instead of Dr S. That means it'll be over 2wks since they last saw me. Last weeks appt was cxl'd due to weather here (ice). Guess I need to be prepared to deliver this baby myself since I keep getting pushed off the schedule!

18 days to go!

My days as a pregnant woman are numbered. I can't believe delivery day could be any day now. My 37wk appt was cxl'd last week b/c of an ice storm in our area and they decided to just skip this past week and have me come in Tues for my 38wk check. So I have no idea if I'm dilated yet. All I know is as of Jan 9th, I was not dilated yet, but cervix had started to soften. I really want to make it to Feb for delivery, b/c I want my baby to stay in there as long as he needs to and come out strong. I'm still dealing w/swelling, carpal tunnel, numb fingers, snoring, hot flashes, reflux, being tired and some aches in my belly since baby is getting so heavy now. For now, I'm taking it easy at home. I'm getting excited to see this baby that I never thought would happen for us!

It's SNOWING!

It doesn't happen here often, but it's happening today! We've had an ice storm and it started snowing here today. My OB's office is closed today due to weather, so my 37w exam was cxld. I'll have to see when they want to reschedule later this week. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same as today, so I may not be able to get in until Thursday or Friday. We'll see. I'm just taking it easy today. Watching TV w/my hubby and staying warm.

I'm 36wks today = 9 months!

I'm in the home stretch now! It's really crazy to imagine that very soon, we'll be parents and we'll have a baby in our house. After trying for so long to get pregnant, our time is almost here now. We couldn't be more excited or ready.

We went to Bull Creek yesterday and took some photos of my belly to capture this moment in time forever for Aidan to look at one day. They turned out pretty good and we brought our tripod w/us so we even got a shot of both of us! I don't feel as big as I look in the pictures, but pictures don't lie! We like to bring the dogs here sometimes, so I'm sure this will be a place that Aidan will spend some time at too w/us and the dogs.

On another note, I found out today that myself and my two business partners have been nominated to be in the Austin Business Journal's top Real Estate performers for 2006.

36wk OB appt - 1st cervical check

Went in today for my first cervical check and another growth scan of Aidan. I am not dilated yet, cervix is closed and tight, but my cervix seems likes it's started to soften a little. The doctor seemed to think I should make it to 40wks, so that's good! I was very happy to hear that. Aidan is "locked and loaded", he is head down and his head is engaged in my pelvis and he is face down. I felt like I had dropped b/c I can now fill my lungs w/air! His estimated weight was 6lbs 2oz today, which is larger than most babies this far along. He was in the 53rd percentile on weight. All this is great news since he has the 2 vessel cord problem. The cord issue is obviously not affecting him at all! I'm happy and feel good that it doesn't look like I'm in danger of delivering early, so far.

I am only up 2lbs since two weeks ago, so I'm happy about that too. My blood pressure was 110/70 today, again, more good news. I took my rings into the jeweler today to get resized. I haven't been able to wear them in a few months now and I miss them. We had it custom made so they are resizing them for no charge and will resize them back down later at no charge. I wish I had gone in sooner! I just thought it would be more trouble than it was worth, so I hadn't bothered. They should be done by tomorrow, yay!

No new pics of Aidan today. We got to see him, but didn't get any print outs. It's harder to see him now b/c he's so big, so one body part takes up the whole screen. It won't be much longer now though and we'll all get to see him and hold him! We can't wait!

35wks today!

Only 5 wks to go til Aidan's due date! Wow... we are excited to meet our new son finally. I am a little sad that soon I won't be pregnant anymore. I've enjoyed this special time in my life and have embraced it. I've also kept in the back of my mind that this may be the only time in my life this happens, since I've learned that even though you want or plan for things, sometimes life has other plans for you. The whole thing still feels very surreal, that in a few weeks, we will come home with a baby, our child and we will be parents.

My mother-in-law (MIL) is coming into town for the birth. She will be here January 24th and will stay here for a month. I'm so happy that she'll be able to be here and witness our big event! It's almost time!
